It's been a relatively small number of people fanning the flames, posting again and again, and the ones who are doing so enjoy it. They craft their posts precisely to make others feel bad -- that's what's getting them off.

Usually these members of our community have their venom pointed at the other side, but during primary season, they've turned the fangs inward, and our community has suffered as a result. The people they antagonize lash out at the other side, too, and eventually you get the nuclear reactor DU is today. All you can do is put on your asbestos underwear, try not to take things too seriously, and hit the ignore button when it starts getting to you.
