7. If "NOBODY wants 4 more years of republicans..."
Then the Democratic Party would have some different candidates left. The two candidates left now are FAR closer to the corporatists and the Republican Party than any of the others who ran against them. Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Dodd, Kucinich, Gravel, anyone?

While I agree that if HRC wins via superdelegate "selection," it will be a hollow victory, I really don't see the party being any further divided than it was in 2000 or 2004. If Kerry wouln't stand up for himself in 2004, why would he do so now, for Obama's sake? Same with the rest of them.

Politicians are pragamatists, for the most part, and they like to WIN. The Clintons and their DLC enablers are incredibly PERSUASIVE, too. That's one reason why they have such popularity within the party - Democratic politicians remember how good it was to be in CHARGE, and they know how badly IT SUCKS when you are NOT. Most Democratic politicians ALSO understand that promises and favours stand a better chance of being properly repaid if your guy wins the Presidency.

Still, all is not lost - I believe that barring a "Dean Scream" or some incredibly persuasive "Swiftboating," either Obama or Clinton will beat McCain, even if he runs with Mittens or the Huckster to gain the Conservative vote.
