Well, as close to zero as there ever is, once a VP has been identified.

The poll results in this thread right now are truly scary. :rofl:

Even the Eagleton example isn't directly relevant. Current conventions are much later. Eagleton was replaced on August 1, 1972, a full month earlier than where we are now.

Look at it this way: The GOP introduced the term flip-flopper in 2004. If McCain dumped Palin or she resigned, that would be an ultimate example of a flip-flop and the political analysts and late night comedians would have a field day at the GOP's expense. There is no chance they risk something like that. It goes back to Bill Clinton's summary of "strong and wrong..."
