work permit because Canada is part of the Commonwealth. I'm not 100% on this though. The only reason I know anything at all about it is that I once knew someone who came here from Toronto on that basis - it's just that it was about 10 years ago and I don't know if the regulations are still the same or not.

Edited to say that if you check the UK Home Office website, there might well be information there that will help you.
