5. I believe the Governor Does so I wrote to him.
I believe it is Governor Taft of Ohio who has the authority to stop the certification of the Ohio electors. He is a Republican, so he won't want to help Kerry, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. I believe you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, so I really "kiss up" to him in this letter. I'm goal oriented and don't care if I have to pat him on the head if it will achieve the outcome.

Please write to him ASAP. Feel free to use any/all of my ideas, but please don't copy this verbatim. I believe individual letters have more impact.

Here is the link to his contact page:

Dear Governor Taft,

I am writing to you today about an issue of grave importance for the future of our democracy. As your constituent, I have not always agreed with you on every subject, but I have found you to be a reasonable man with the best interests of Ohio at heart.

Please do not certify the electors from Ohio to the electoral college until the recount is completed. The public's faith in our elections was severely eroded by the occurences in Florida in 2000. We cannot allow this to happen again. If the people do not have confidence in the outcome of this year's presidential election, I believe that faith in our electoral system will be irretrievably lost.

You stand alone in a unique position to restore confidence in our democracy. People want to know that the election was decided by an accurate vote count. You can either not certify any electors until the vote is completed, or certify both sets. There is a precedent for that in Hawaii in the 1960 presidential election. As governor of the state of Ohio, you are the only person in the world who has the authority to take a strong and meaningful step that will restore our election system. It is the basis of our democracy to count every vote. You can assure that this happens. It will greatly augment your legacy as governor of our great state, and do much to heal the huge rift in our soceity.

Sincerely,
Andrea Studebaker
