88. In my post #86 here, I am asking the OP to speak to us as a person
and not as a prosyletizer. I and others have given him a hard time here in this thread -- not for sport but from feeling that we're being sold a bill of goods.

This particular book of the Bible seems gruesome and dreadful to me, a truly unstable text. At the far end of it may have been the despair of its author. How empty, or how tortured a life must he have led to have produced such a text? I think it would be well beyond Dr. Phil's range, frankly.

If it's the Bible one wants to study, there are many beautiful, lyrical passages well worth the time. The Beatitudes wouldn't be a bad starting point. The whole tone of this thread would have been different and prompted a much different response had the OP chosen that passage instead.

Rasputin, your profile lists fishing as an interest. A Fred Arbogast Hula-Popper for small-mouth bass on 6-lb test line just before dawn used to define my mornings in the midwest.
