high cortisol (a hormone secreted during times of stress) can cause the body to store fat, usually around the middle. Passionflower and magnolia bark can help with that, the DHEA should not be taken by anyone who hasn't first had their DHEA levels tested.

Your friend should definitely consult her practitioner before starting a diet since she's diabetic, though.
