10. Exactly right!
And every time I see an endlessly droning escalator in the subway system with no one on it for hours at a time (the escalators go two ways at my station and in the morning no one uses the up one and at the end of the day, not too many people use the down one!) I think of the Senator's oft-used example of escalators in Asia. Think how many hundreds and thousands of dollars we could save every year and use to improve our infrastructure if we just had those escalators he talks about that don't start up 'til someone approaches them! And, oh, man, imagine if we had fast trains and could actually afford to take them long distances! The possible win-win is staggering.
