Fighting back is A-OK, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't apologize for a mistake before doing it. It's a small thing, but I'd say it's an important one to the many people who want a change from the "take-no-responsibility" Bush administration.

Repubs didn't put the botched words in Kerry's mouth, and when botched words cause offense, an earnest apology is the adult thing to do. Apologize first, then attack the idiots who are opportunistically exploiting and distorting your gaffe.
