Polling numbers good for Dems in ARIZONA: JD Hayworth race still toss-up
Advertisements [?]
Polling numbers are looking good for Democrats in three key Arizona races.

The Washington D.C.-based Cook Political Report now ranks the battle between Scottsdale Republican Congressman J.D. Hayworth and Democratic challenger and former Tempe Mayor Harry Mitchell as a toss-up.

Cook previously reported the Hayworth-Mitchell contest was leaning toward the Republican. Recent polls have shown the race to be tight and the two sides are in a major television advertising war. Hayworth represents a Republican-oriented district that includes Scottsdale, Tempe, Ahwatukee and Fountain Hills.

Former Democratic state lawmaker Gabrielle Giffords continues to lead Republican immigration hawk and former State Rep. Randy Graf for the U.S. House seat being vacated by retiring GOP Congressman Jim Kolbe. Democrats expect to pick up the Tucson/Tombstone congressional seat in the November elections.

In the race for governor, Democratic incumbent Janet Napolitano continues to hold solid leads over Republican challenger Len Munsil in most polls. An average of recent polls in the governor's race gives Napolitano a 29 percent edge, according to Real Clear Politics.
