I guess being a natural optimist, I couldn't possible imagine the destruction to our democracy and the political discourse of the country that his administration would bring.

As an aside, I think that would make for a very interesting poll. I'm curious how many independents and Republicans who voted for Bush, if given it all to do over again knowing what they know now, would choose Gore on the ballot.
