I'm an atheist, but I am also a pagan, if that makes any sense. :)

In my frequently visited Slough of Despond I often forget how empowering thinking can be, the power that words have (and I'm a writer!), and the in-absolute nature of reality as suggested by quantum physics and string theory. I let the practical, atheist part of my mind shout angry, skeptical things at these truths (just like one of the posters below), not even noticing the irony of what I'm doing with that very action.

I'm not sure how I got stuck in the absurd place of believing in the worst possible outcomes, but never trusting in the best, and calling that "realism."

I was raised by fundie pentacostals, and heard many times, "As a man thinketh, so is he," and "...whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure...think on these things." I have to remind myself every once in a while that there are things I can salvage from that unfortunate upbringing. :)

Thanks for the kick in the pants. :D

Edited to add: not implying that atheists are angry, just that my atheist half sometimes can be, in response to the fundie upbringing ;)
