5. A problem worse than Diebold:
The friendly election workers where I voted were obviously bewildered by the complexity of the process - which is scary considering it was optical scanning.

After showing my ID the venerable gentlemen marked off the wrong person's name on his sheet. While waiting for him to find my real name someone made a mistake on their ballot and wanted a new one. You would have thought the optical scanner had caught fire for as much confusion as that caused.

Maybe the vote count problems boil down to R's being easier to see than D's through the bifocals.
