193. Suffolk, VA - 10am - Heavy
I had almost a 45 minute wait to vote in my precinct today. It's usually very Republican, but during the 2005 Governor's race, it was only 55% Republican, which is a definite change from the 2004 elections.

Lots of people talking smack about George Allen. Some things I saw and overheard:

Older guy #1 - "I still haven't decided who to vote for!"
Older guy #2 - "Well, I'm voting for the guy who was actually in the military. At least he was man enough to serve. First time I've ever voted Democrat!"
Soccer mom behind them - "I'm voting for my kids' future, and George Allen is a good Christian!"
Both guys snickered at her.

Lots of minivans and SUV's with multiple ribbon magnets, some with the 10 Commandments magnet, and one with a ribbon magnet that said "My Ribbon is Bigger than Yours!"

This was the BEST part of the experience: I saw a young guy in a wheelchair, missing a leg from the knee down. He looked like former military. He was wearing a shirt with "Iraq Vets for Webb" on it. Frigging awesome. Some old guy (probably in his 70's) came up and started sniping at him for supporting Webb. He said that Allen cares about vets too. The guy said he would have rathered have Webb in a foxhole with him than Allen. He started wheeling himself to his car, and threw back over his shoulder "Allen helped get us into this...he's one of the reasons why I'm missing a leg!" If I wasn't in such a hurry to get to work, I would have chased after him hugged him.

FRICKING. AWESOME.
