Several progressive documentary films,including Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth, the Dixie Chicks movie Shut Up and Sing, and The War Tapes (which was just released on DVD), are “among the 15 movies shortlisted for a 2007 Best Documentary Oscar.” 10:47 am

GORE + DIXIE CHICKS UP FOR DOCUMENTARY OSCARS

Politician AL GORE's hard-hitting environmental film "An Inconvenient Truth" and the DIXIE CHICKS rockumentary "Shut Up and Sing" are among the 15 movies shortlisted for a 2007 Best Documentary Oscar. Over 80 features originally qualified in the category for the 79th Academy Awards next year (07). Other titles under consideration include "Can Mr. Smith Get To Washington Anymore?" "Deliver Us From Evil," "Jesus Camp" and "The War Tapes." Nominations for the 79th Academy Awards will be announced on 23 January (07). The Oscars will be presented on 25 February (07).
