...is that I would expect if he had been screaming "Faggot!" and LGBT DUers had complained, we would be met by the usual jeers about our "knee-jerk reactions," "hypersensitivity," and that latest, greatest sin of all, "political correctness." (Oh, I'd fight it, tooth and nail, but I've been conditioned to expect it.)

But the last thing I ever expected to see on DU was the same level of ignorance, insensitivity, and deliberate denial exhibited toward African-Americans that I've seen here today. It's sheer folie en masse.

I thought at least the last two or three generations of Americans had been raised better than that. But then, I learn something new every day. :(
