Dick Cheney, the US vice-president, accidentally shot and injured an elderly man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas.
He sprayed Harry Whittington, a 78-year-old lawyer, in the face and chest with shotgun pellets on Saturday at a ranch in Texas....

His chief also proved to be accident-prone when he was in Scotland for the G8 summit last year. George W Bush crashed his mountain bike into a policeman as he cycled around the grounds of Gleneagles Hotel.
