176. There was a homeless gay student living in the NYU library back in 2003. "Bobst Boy" |

His dad disowned him. He was formerly wealthy. He lived in the library and slept on chairs, showered in the gym, and worked 5 jobs to pay his tuition. I believe he graduated. He kept his identity secret because he was afraid he'd get kicked out of the library by the NYU Administration (who I can wholly see doing such a thing.)
He also said he considered himself very lucky because he was still privileged because his upbringing had gotten him into the school in the first place and that with the help of friends he'd probably be okay in life.
Other gay kids are not so lucky. I mean, how are African-American transgendered kids going to survive on streets without selling their bodies or turning to gangs for help. What? Are they going to get jobs :sarcasm: ? Who hires teenaged queens and butches?
sigh...
