14. "Blame America firsters" are not a myth.

They do exist. As Liberals we tolerate their view.

Consider the myth that passivism is a Liberal position. Historically, Liberal Democrats have been the internationalist party ready to wade into wars when necessary while Conservatives cautioned against foreign entanglements, etc. When I was a child the GOP used to call the Democratic Party the "War Party" because of Liberal aggressivism.

But when a war is underway, Conservatives rally 'round the flag. So during the Vietnam War, those opposed were attacked (often violently) by Conservative totalitarians. While it was Liberal Democrats who defended their right to express their opinion when most Democrats disagreed with it. So we got labelled anti-war.

Even a lot of Progressives today will argue that anti-war is a Liberal value ignoring two hundred years of American history that suggests otherwise.

Same thing with the "blame America firsters". We tolerate dissent. Heck, we enourage it. We count it as a true American value. The driving axiom behind Liberal thought is that you will never discover the truth if you are unwilling to consider the possibility that you are wrong.
