Do men want children or clones?

I just had a long discussion/argument with a female friend who insisted that women have a biological need to procreate, whereas men just want (male) clones.

My guess is that this is a topic that has been debated down through the ages.

I'm keeping this post brief so as not to include my own opinions/biases. And rather than relate more of the argument I had with my friend, I'd rather hear your opinions on this topic.

So let me restate the question. Do women have a need to procreate, while men just want to replicate themselves?

(And just to be clear, I don't know. I'm just asking your opinion.)
