mocking some of Condoleezza Rice's language justifying the Iraq war while gallantly defending purple dildoes. Savage supported our war on Iraq in a profoundly ignorant fashion during the run-up to the war, and has persisted in his foolishness though, like many former Bushites, he later said, without apology, that the thing was fucked up so badly in the execution that the U.S. should get out.

Wrong. The thing was fucked up at the conception.

Interestingly, the Rice reference, which appeared in the 02/14 Portland Mercury version of Savage's column, and very probably Seattle's Stranger's has been excised from the on-line edition of Savage Love at the Stranger's site, though it persists in the print and on-line editions of the Portland Mercury, and the Village Voice:

"(we wouldn't want the smoking gun to take the form of a mushroom-headed dildo)".

Fuck off, Dan. You and your "Islamo-fascists are coming" bullshit. Granted, you gave us the term "Santorum," but otherwise go fuck yourself.
