18. People do some strange things
When my oldest daughter was a baby, I briefly shared an apartment with a friend who loved kids. She was always talking about how she was sure she could never have kids of her own for various reasons (not really sure what now - this was 25 years ago). Both of us were only 19 or 20 years old yet she was convinced she was infertile.

Later, after we no longer lived together, I went to pick up my daughter at her babysitter's and was told this girl had been there earlier, wanting to take the baby "for the afternoon." She claimed that I'd okayed it but since the babysitter knew nothing about it, she (thankfully) didn't let her.

I discovered not long after that that my daughter's original birth certificate was missing and the only conclusion I could reach was that this girl had taken it and was going to take the baby as well. Other things she'd done made me think it was likely.

A couple of years later, she married and ended up having SIX kids of her own.

She was a whacked out girl...
