(John and Bobby) asserted that within the next half century, an African American could be elected President of the United States.

People thought that the idea was ridiculous - a pie in the sky dream that had not the foggiest chance of coming true.

Although some may find it difficult to remember, we have in fact come a long, long way as a nation, and as a people.

We are indebted for that progress to the giants of the past, upon whose shoulders we now stand.

And the torch is passed on...
