I thought that it might have to do with some internal polling data and I was right. Obama wanted to take the focus off the birther issue and put it on the Ryan budget. Obama even said this himself in his press conference.

Polling data released today suggests that Americans are currently preferring the Republicans when it comes to the budget. It was smart for Obama to bury the birther story and put the focus on the pitiful Ryan budget and it's draconian cuts to social programs.

Now it's time for us to bury the birther story and put the focus on the Ryan budget.
