43. My sister married into the top 10% of wealth in '85
However, since the turn of the century, her OB/GYN husband (whose practice specialized in performing in-vitro fertilization and sex selection) became semi-retired, and due to the Bush the Lesser era, she and her husband may "only" be in the top 25% now.

Although I was VERY often unemployed and almost penniless for most of the Reagan era 80s, and buried deeply into the bottom 5% when she first married, I managed to find a good job just about a year before Clinton became POTUS, and by his second term, had married and became members of the once large and coveted conspicuous consumer DINKs (dual income no kids) rising into the middle 25%..BUT..during the "lameing" years of Bush the Lesser's second term, we, like millions of others, had plunged into the recession head first, assisted by outsourced job loss, foreclosure, vehicle repossessions, and crucified credit, now we rely solely upon my meager disability income and have become conservative-loathed, tax-sucking, government-supported SSTINKs (Social Security Total Income no kids) and are now in likely what is the lowest 10% of income, so the gargantuan yawning income gap between my sister's lifestyle and mine has greatly widened yet again, and permanently to boot.
