Surely he'll be asked about his intentions regarding ending the Bush tax cuts during his campaign. Any answer he provides other than the stock "Raising taxes on ANY income group in a time of recession is off the table." will result in immediate thrashing by the right.

If, perchance, he does happen to have the guts to end the Bush tax cuts (as should have been done a long while ago), I truly don't see him making much more of a progressive turn. He's had the chance to appeal to his progressive base so many times before, even while costing him nothing politically, and he's turned up his nose every time. Obama ran as a center-left candidate, he's governed as a center-right President and he's been Wall St.'s best friend from the beginning. If he made a grand departure from all of that, I'd truly be shocked.
