A bus driver in Montana has appeared in court for hitting a young schoolboy who kept saying "penis" on board his bus.

James Campbell, 62, received a deferred sentence in Helena's City Court after appearing on a charge of assault.

According to City Prosecutor Bob Wood, the charge was levelled against Campbell after a 12-year-old passenger on the bus he was driving reported Campbell slapped him across the head.

Wood said the dispute between Campbell and the student began when he objected to the boy loudly repeating the word "penis" despite his request to stop, says the Independent Record.

I thought "ring and runners" were supposed to actually RUN after ringing... In the Florida case, they obviously didn't, since the guy was able to wake up, look out the window, get his gun, get to the front door, and open it.

The "penisboy" didn't deserve to be slapped, he didn't make anybody fear for their lives. The dead boy went out to scare his neighbors in the middle of the night, and contributed greatly to his own demise. Unfortunately, his death wasn't spectacular enough to put him in the running for a Darwin. BTW, where were the 16 year old's parents, and why did they let him go out at midnight to do what he did?

And your pic doesn't do the kid justice....it doesn't show that he was 6'2" and weighed 200 pounds. That makes him pretty big. Now if he was 4'11", and weighed 90 pounds and had empty hands, that would be a different matter...

the thing is that his belief was REASONABLE given the totality of the circumstances.

The kid's parents admit that he was a juvenile delinquent, so he had a previous history of behaving badly. The kid's friend admits they were going out to annoy and scare the neighbors. And the shooter admits that he was scared by them.

Please give a plausible scenario where to would have been a GOOD thing happening to the homeowner...

The kids went out to scare the neighbors, and succeeded. If they were selling popcorn or girl scout cookies in the middle of the day, their conduct would have just been rude. At night, with NO POSSIBLE justification for the kids to be there, it was reasonable.

and for clarification - kids are inately annoying - it's their job - they always push the envelope - they look for ways to drill your brains into mush -

maybe the kid saw that this particular word "penis" was a lovely trigger, then the next step was to see how long the boil point was and what the reaction would ultimately be -
