Cheney: GOP will win in '08 (There's no question in my mind)
Source: WashTimes

Vice President Dick Cheney this afternoon said he is convinced that a Republican candidate will win the 2008 presidential election, but declined to say who he thinks is the favorite.

"I frankly think a Republican will win the '08 election. There's no question in my mind," Mr. Cheney said during an interview with a conservative radio-show host in Dallas, Texas.

"But I have stayed scrupulously neutral. I didn't want to tilt it one way or the other," Mr. Cheney said.

Mr. Cheney said he and President Bush are in the same position and do not want to say which Republican candidate they favor.

"It wouldn't be fair to whoever I didn't name," Mr. Cheney said. "Or, on the other hand, if I named somebody, it might not help him."

39. I remember before the 2004 election
Bush was giving an interview to some dufus from Fox News. On almost everything he was stressed, rolled his eyes, avoided eye contact, garbled his words. I thought he was going to lose it several times and the men in the white coats were going to have to cart him off to a nice hospital setting. Then he was asked who would win in 2004. He immediately pulled himself together and said with forceful clarity that he was going to win, there was no doubt. I turned to my wife and said it's over, the fix is in. I believe I was right.

Perhaps Cheney is unconsciously signaling another tell. The fix is in. Or at least the machinations to steal a third election are in place. Hopefully this time the U.S. citizenry will not allow them to succeed.

64. Credible: the Washington Times has always been heavily subsidized by the Unification Church, which
opposes constitutional democracy. If it were a genuine business venture, this so-called "newspaper" would have folded years ago, because it loses hundreds of millions every year. The subsidies alone keep it afloat as a rightwing propaganda outlet.

Remember how Rove was oh-so sure that the Republicans would win
big in 06? He thought it was in the bag.

They always have plans to cheat, disenfranchise and steal the
votes--so they want to rub it in our noses before it happens.

They don't plan for getting creamed, which is what happened in
06.

Now, if only Gore would run. There's no way they could steal
that one away.

13. In fairness, what else would a sitting VP say?
This is hardly unexpected, regardless of person or party. Partisan confidence is absolutely expected from top-level administration officials. If he'd even said, "I'm unsure which party will win in 2008," let alone speculated publicly that the POTUS would switch to the Democrats, it would be taken as an unacceptable indicator of uncertainty and pundits would wonder loudly as to when he was planning to resign.

However, our DUish inclination to view this as ominous is a reflection of how little confidence we have in our democracy, as much as the Times' inclination to present it as newsworthy is a reflection of how much propping the GOP faithful require of late.

20. Cheney Sees GOP Winning Midterm Elections (June 15, 2006)
WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday that the Republicans will prevail in the midterm elections because of a strong economy and the ability of the Bush administration to prevent another terrorist attack.

Polls show voters favor Democrats taking charge in November, but Cheney said the GOP will maintain its majority control in the Senate and House. He cited an economy that's "kicking along in very good shape" and President Bush's record in the war on terror.

"And we protected the United States against further attack from the terrorists," Cheney said in an interview on Sean Hannity's radio show. "You can't guarantee there won't be further attacks, but I think the track record is remarkable."

At his news conference Wednesday, Bush also predicted Republican victories in November, saying the GOP "philosophy is one that is forward-looking and optimistic and has worked."

The output from congress doesn't seem to be any different today than it was last year, before the '06 election. No matter who wins the elections in this country, the GOP right wing continues to rule everything.

I see no reason why Cheney or his BushPutnist Blackshirts should fear in any way shape or form, the will of the American People.

They should fear we Imperial Subjects of Amerika as Hitler feared the Germans rising against him or even noticing what he was in great enough umbers to matter.

Anyone who says they are unfamiliar with the day-to-day nuts-and-bolts of how Hitler rose simply has not been paying attention to the last seven years of Amerika.

67. Cheney could be right
Republicans lost in 2006 only because they miscalculated the Democrat groundswell, so their election-stealing apparatus couldn't adjust quickly enough for the big difference from what was expected. Democrats probably lost seats to Republicans in 2006 because in some cases they were successful at rigging. How else did 3,000,000 Dem votes go missing?

In 2008 they'll be ready for it, their rigging apparatus will be ready, Dems will have been scrubbed from the voting lists, caging will be alive and well, voter ID's will prevent many Dems votes from being cast. California may even have a split electoral college count. There will be a close race between Clinton and Giuliani. The count will go for Clinton until the final adjustment kicks in -- and the count could be 50+% Giuliani to 50-% Clinton. Where have we seen that before? US 2000, US 2004, Mexico 2006 (with the help of Bush election fixers).

It's advisable to take Cheney seriously and press harder to make sure all Dem votes can be cast and will be counted accurately.
