Black Friday Pepper Spray Incident in Porter Ranch
Source: NBC Los Angeles

A customer shot pepper spray at other customers at a
busy Northridge Wal-Mart store late Thursday night, causing minor injuries to 10 people who had been waiting hours for Black Friday savings, according to Los Angeles firefighters and a police lieutenant.

A witness told NBC4 that the incident started as people waited in line for the new Xbox 360. The witness said a woman with two children in tow became upset with the way people were pushing in line. The witness said she pulled out pepper spray, and sprayed the other people in line.

2. Corporal punishment is still legal in texas.
a little girl in kindergarten class had just been shown the paddle by the teacher in class, and had it explained that if the kids did not do what the teacher says, they get the paddle.

At lunch time, the little girl wanted some of another kids sandwich. when the other kid refused, the little girl picked up a stick and hit him with it.

29. Eat this! The inventor of pepper spray has commented on its curent uses
on NPR today. Insightful stuff, condemning the police for using violence to confront anyone who has an opinion.

Inventor of Pepper Spray Condemns Police Usage Against Occupy Protestors

To Kamran Loghman, who helped develop pepper spray into a weapons-grade material with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the 1980s, the incident at Davis violated his original intent.

“I have never seen such an inappropriate and improper use of chemical agents,” Mr. Loghman said in an interview.

Mr. Loghman, who also helped develop guidelines for police departments using the spray, said that use-of-force manuals generally advise that pepper spray is appropriate only if a person is physically threatening a police officer or another person.

3. Over a Fricking TOY? Are you kidding me?
First of all, it's stupid to stand in line all night for a toy. Do what my parents did - say NO, you're not going to get it so don't expect it under the tree.

Second of all, Pepper Spraying people? What are you - the UC cops?

32. I question your "first of all"
Since this line was for Xbox 360s, I suspect half will show up on eBay, half the remainder will be used by the purchaser rather than being given as a gift, and MAYBE the rest will be used as gifts.

The ratios may be off, but if the price of these things was low enough, at least three quarters of them weren't bought as gifts for anyone the purchaser knows.

20. You've nailed it exactly, and there's nothing wrong with it.
It's a universal human phenomenon. We do what we see works, and we try not to do what we see doesn't work. We don't, however, bother to define "what works" in any way other than immediate short-term benefit.

"I don't know what to do here. My normal training is exhausted. What do I do? I do what SUCCESSFUL people do, of course."

26. Woman in Wal-Mart pepper spray attack was 'competitive shopping'
Source: Los Angeles Times

November 25, 2011 | 1:15 am

Woman who pepper-sprayed other shoppers Thursday night at the Wal-Mart in Porter Ranch had armed herself with the caustic spray to gain an advantage in the fight for merchandise at the Black Friday sale, a fire captain said.

The woman, who is still being sought, used the spray in more than one area of the Wal-Mart "to gain preferred access to a variety of locations in the store," said Los Angeles Fire Capt. James Carson.

"She was competitive shopping," he said.

Twenty customers, including children, were hurt in the 10:10 p.m. incident. Shoppers complained of minor skin and eye irritation and sore throats, he said.
