Drudge gives 'major props' to Fahrenheit; Not concerned about objectivity

Right-wing Internet newshound Matt Drudge, despite what having what is percieved to be generally jingoistic tendencies, tells the New York Observer as part of a longer article that he was “jealous” over Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit” success, and added that he's not concerned about the loss of objectivity in journalism.

“I give him major props, as a piece of art. I was filled with steamy jealousy throughout,” Drudge said. But while Mr. Drudge crafted his own right-wing mosaic of American reality out of mere Web links, Mr. Moore was stitching together sound bites and facts on a much larger scale—1,700 screens.

Drudge was flush with envy.

“This is a totally new level of expertise and skill and cunning,” he said. He even compared Mr. Moore to H.L. Mencken. “I should stress that I’m not endorsing what his premise was—I couldn’t even follow the premise,” he said. “It was more the images and the drama.”

Mr. Drudge was not concerned with the loss of objectivity in the news; it’s not something terribly important in the scheme of history. “Nixon said history belongs to those who write it,” said Mr. Drudge. “That’s what it is. You see things through your own prism. I feel what I do on the Internet is just one guy’s outlook in the world…”

And he knows that our side won't see the relevance of what he's saying - even when he outright explains it to us. Did you see Frank Luntz talk circles around David Brancaccio of NOW last Friday - telling him exactly how they do this. David absorbed it all with that uncomprehending deer-in-the-headlights look.

People believe what feels good. They only use their brains to justify it.

The RW has been feeding focus-group-tested feel-good phrases to the voters for thirty years now and have put in place a powerful RW communications stream that reaches millions of voters every day with those messages - all on topic, all packed in the sizzle that sells them.

11. Except Moore uses FACTS. Drudges facts are OFTEN wrong.

So far, Moore's movie has stood strong on the facts. Some detractors are complaining about presentation and conclusions the audience is invited to draw, but thats it.

Apples & Oranges- Moore used propaganda techniques, but sticks to the facts- while Drudge presents his stuff as old-time newspaper style journalism, except most of the facts are wrong.
