CIA History of DCI William Colby (The National Security Archive/Electronic Briefing Book 362)
NSAEBB 362 was posted October 28th, 2011.

This "in-house" history is fascinating to those of US that take an interest in such topics, I have a link below that begins with Chapter 11-The Pike Committee. It is a pdf, takes awhile to load. Worth reading on several historic levels.

The reason I chose to begin with Chapter 11-The Pike Committee was to compare it to a thread I started March 11th, 2008 linked below.

1. While contemptuous of the Pike Comm. "hippy staffers", Colby & Co. lied about CIA Chile operations
(p. 167). When it really came down to revealing secrets to Congress, even in closed session, these Agency Old Hands were not the reformers and liberal openness advocates they thought themselves to be.

2. Sure thing leveymg, because those "Agency Old Hands" also were dripping with the blood of people
and leaders that were on various politicized "lists" as dissenters to the same old "powers that be" that are, in reality, recognized as the 1% imho. Back in the day these were called those "friendly to the West" regardless of their geographical location-i.e. Allende.

Colby was responsible for the PHOENIX program. No "domino threat" emerged in Asia, no sir, the real result (of the lies) is seen by much of our debt being held by the PRC! Yep, Colby was often cited as a "liberal". His death was another deeply symbolic murder, imho.

I consider Richard McGarrah Helms the #1 DCI who had hands dripping with the blood of American citizens who were also on various politicized "enemies lists" regardless of the Agency's Charter or anything else. Petraeus is going to be the worst DCI imaginable imo.
:scared:

Still this "official" history is highly intriguing today-I thank everyone at The National Security Archive for getting it "cleared" and out to we, the people.

Others interested in the career of DCI Colby may find this article revealing in the context of the relationship of deep politics and the US intelligence community.
