Iraqi Protest being Ignored by MSM
This protest looks pretty major, but on the websites like CNN.com and Foxnews.com I see no mention, not even a small link, nothing... just "breaking News" of the Prince Charles wedding, how is this breaking news it was announced weeks ago!

6. This is Iraq...today.
Reuters... from yahoo.

"Thousands of Iraqi Shi'ites loyal to cleric Moqtada al-Sadr hold a demonstration in Baghdad's Firdos Square April 9, 2005, where a statue of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was pulled down by Iraqis and American soldiers two years ago. The rally was called on the second anniversary of the fall of Baghdad with protesters demanding an end to the U.S. military presence in Iraq and a speedy trial for former president Saddam Hussein. 3. Yes, the mainstream media
are "good Germans". They will show anti-Syrian demos in Lebanon but not the corresponding anti-American demos in Iraq. It may make the American sheep think. That is forbidden now.

7. Man, the corporate media SUCKS
Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 08:04 AM by Clark2008
I've found several references to it on Google and the ONLY US news covering it thus far is the San Fran Examiner.

Here's something from the Telegraph in Britain:

Tens of thousands of Iraqis have marched into Baghdad on the second anniversary of the fall of Saddam Hussein to protest at the presence of American troops in the country.

Protesters march through Baghdad

The protest, organised by radical cleric Moqtadr al-Sadr, is thought to be the largest demonstration since American troops entered Iraq.

Chanting "No, no, USA," and carrying Iraqi flags, the protesters converged on Baghdad's Firdos square.

Elsewhere, in continued violence, a roadside bomb killed 15 Iraqi soldiers and wounded several others in Latifiyah, 30 miles south of Baghdad, a defence ministry official said.

11. No pix, but the NYT has a spun article on it today.
"G.I. Is Killed as Shiites Gather for Protest Against U.S.
By ROBERT F. WORTH

Published: April 9, 2005

AGHDAD, Iraq, April 8 - An American soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in northern Iraq on Friday, and Shiite protesters began streaming toward the capital for a demonstration against the American presence in Iraq on Saturday, the second anniversary of the fall of Baghdad."

I can't publish a link, but if you go the New York Times website and go through the free registration process, you can read the rest of it there.

I think it is total BS that they spin it with American deaths rather than with the statement that Bush himself made, that he would pull the troops out of Iraq if the people there asked him to, right after their election.

14. Exactly. President George W. PUSSY is too scared to take the troops out
now because he'll be accused of "cutting & running" since the Iraqi people are clearly telling him to get the hell out of their country through these protests and fighting back against the US invaders.

12. I TORE CNN A MASSIVE NEW ASS HOLE FOR THIS LAPSE
They are just another entertainment station as far as I'm concerned - I pointed out their showing the Lebanese protest as the Administration would have wanted and how this more important story was being IGNORED. These stupdid fake news stations need to go - I get better analysis from Comedy Central's Jon Stuart - guess I know where I'm going for my news from now on...

Even in the handful of places where they are reporting this, the Freepers want to supress it!
