convince people that SOMEONE is in control and is going to help them in their time of need. Tell me, how did our federal, state and local agencies do? I think that pandemonium was guaranteed once those levees burst. The government, (You know, the one that Republicans are trying to drown in the bathtub?), barely had enough resources to evacuate people and had to forgo shoring up a levee in order to do so, which may cause more problems down the road.

The two photos appear to have been taken in a similar area of water at a similar time of day. The major difference was the blatent RACISM you displayed in your caption and the obviously caucaso-centric forgiveness of the other caption.

The AFP and the AP *ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE*. If it were from the same agency, this would be hugely racist, but as it stands, it looks like the AFP calls people who steal stuff during a crisis "finding" and the AP calls them "looters".

123. This is nothing new with the way MSM portrays Black Folks!

With us (African Americans), the media has always gone out of their way to show us as "looters, savages & rioters" during any civil disobedience.

If there's rioting, burning and/or looting in the streets say, after a hockey game final involving drunken white hockey fans, the media will use a softer term like "rebel rousers" or something of the sort although the actions of looting and destroying property are the same.

I cannot believe that there was absolutely no looting going on in the poor white areas of NO or in Mississippi under these desperate circumstances. The media will NEVER show them on TV or at best, change the wording to "finding or salvaging" instead of LOOTING. When the majority of anchors, reporters and camera people covering African Americans are white, some of them only know ONE WAY to portray us.

During the 92' riots I was (and still reside) in Los Angeles. Yes, there was rioting & looting going on in the black & brown neighborhoods, but the national media failed to show the white people that were looting & burning stores on the westside (the upper middle class white areas of town). They kept looping the same footage of the black (and brown) folks in South Central over & over & over until Blacks = Looters is INGRAINED in everyone's head.

It makes me sick! I HATE MSM.

She said she "had to LOOT the grocery store for food and water." on CNN or MSRNC. It really pisses me off when all I see is 90% of these desporate people carrying food cloth and sneakers - yet the MSM is calling them looters. Fuck Walmart, it was good to see it get the piss looted out of it.
