I gotta hand it to Mr. Dean... |
|
The man has balls the size of Vermont.
I was listening to the Limbaugh Show and guess who's ad was played here during the commercials.
Maybe it was a waste of money, but it certainly was the best laugh I had all week. Mr. Dean, I salute you.

Which I thought was a pretty funny move, even for rat bastards. Good to see Dean giving them a taste of their own.

Roger Something.
I think he is actually worse because he sounds more sensible than Rush on the surface.

I don't listen too often, but it seems like every time i have to run out from work at lunchtime, this Roger guy is subbing for Rush. I think he's a total idiot.
Over the summer, he compared Iraq to WW2 and said that US troops are still in Germany now, implying that if my now 8 month old daughter has male children in the future, they may get to serve in Iraq. He also read on the air that letter that turned out to be fake.
Then, last week, he blamed the California wildfires 100% on the Democrats blocking the Bush clearcutting bill (or whatever it was called?)

7. Reaching out to voters?! |
|
Oh no, now they will accuse him of "pandering" or "talking down" to them. Dean realizes that we need any vote we can get, and so he is reaching out to those who have normally not voted Democrat. The Republicans tried it and it worked; they went after the black and latino vote saying we democrats had taken their votes for granted. But when we try to do that we are accused of "pandering" by our own.

8. In liberal markets, Rush does commercials for products |
|
and he'll say things like, "I know we differe on politics, but we can all agree..."
It's a total acknoweldgement -- when it gets down to the brass tacks of having to sell shit -- that his audience hates him in liberal markets, and they're only listening so they can be outraged.
Do you live in a Repulbican or a Democratic city?

11. Actually, Dean May Win a Few Converts |
|
People routinely switch from hard right to hard left, just like people switched from communism to fascism and vice versa. Eric Hoffer wrote about this in books like The True Believer.
Just because all of us may have a fixed position on the political landscape doesn't mean everyone does. Reagan won over Democrats. Dean is trying to win over working-class Republicans. His confederate flag comments helped that cause.
Dean knows what he's doing. Watch him. He'll take the nomination, and then win the presidency a year from now.
Whether that will really redeem the country we'll have to wait and see.

13. Dr. Dean Is VERY Smart |
|
First of all, the ad ran in Omaha because of the Iowa Caucuses coming up. Omaha radio obviously carries well into Iowa, including Council Bluffs. However, since the ad ran in Omaha, it didn't count (as much) toward Iowa spending limits.
OK, so why did Dr. Dean run a radio ad on Limbaugh? At least two reasons:
1. For left-leaning folks listening to the program, they'll be more likely to appreciate how Dr. Dean is taking the fight to the conservatives.
2. For independents and even right-leaning folks, they'll be more likely to go to their caucuses and vote for Dean because they've heard of him, at least. There's nothing going on in the Republican Party, so there could be lots of crossover caucusgoers this year. Dean is trying to expand the pool of available voters.
That's it. Very simple. Oh, and radio is relatively cheap. Even Limbaugh. Might also get him some secondary press (from newspapers reporting that he's even advertising on Limbaugh).

On one hand I do think its funny to have the ad on Rush. His listeners let out a collective, "Say what?!"
On the other hand I thought there was a big push on DU to boycott advertisers on Rush?

Dean has been my first choice for a while now, but this is over the top. What chrome-plated, gargantuan testicles the guy has. I would never have thought of doing that in a million years.
I want to buy him a beer or something. That is just fucking hysterical. Can you imagine the mass exodus of dittoheads to the executive washroom to clean their ears of such commie filth?
EDIT: Upon reflection, the only more ballsy thing he could have done was introduce Ann Coulter to the wonders of anal ecstasy.
