You can, however, post a pic of a person WITH a great voice.

Glad to clear that up.

37. You won't get any rips from me.
Sinatra was Sinatra, nuff said. Lousy person but an artist of the highest caliber.

Nat Cole was a great singer and a hell of a jazz pianist before he became famous as a singer.

Karen Carpenter had a gift that blows the mind of anyone knowledgeable about music. You can not be taught to sing the way she did, you either can or you can't. Very few can. Her phrasing was in the same league with Sinatra and Tony Bennett and you don't get any better than that.

k. d. land just makes me swoon, especially "Constant Craving." Another stone cold natural.

Not a Judy Garland fan, but I take your point.

40. Thank you
Quite a few times I've mentioned Karen Carpenter on this forum and inevitably someone rips into the Carpenters, usually based on their hit singles, many of which were corny or lightweight. But her voice had an amazing sound to it and I agree, you can't learn to sound like that, you have to be born with it. As for Judy Garland, I know not everyone's a fan and that's fine. If you have 4 minutes to spare check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2h3SjisivsA

55. I agree. She's not someone I'd go out of my way to listen to
but that's mainly because, however corny her songs may be and beautiful her voice was, her voice always makes me sad.

61. I love Karen Carpenter's voice, too.
I understand she really wanted to step out of the Brother-Sister-pop-tunes cage and do some solo stuff of her own chooseing but was being pushed back hard. She wasn't just "The Carpenters." She didn't live long enough to break out into the individual talented songstress that she was.
