My 99 cent store dinner kind of kicked ass.
Edited on Wed Nov-23-11 11:28 PM by K8-EEE
SO BROKE after all my Thanksgiving preps - and I refuse to use credit cards! So ended up wondering into the 99 cent story seeing what I could get for the change in the bottom of my purse. Surprised that they have bags of fresh "vegetable medleys" not from China but Salinas, CA! Steamed a couple of those up and combined with pasta, white beans, garlic and parmesan cheese, it was a hit, oh and they had "hearts of romaine" 4 for 99 cents so we had a nice Caesar salad too!

2. I was kind of surprised at the fresh produce there
I thought they just had a lot of canned junk but wow, a whole bag of nice russet potatoes for 99 cents -- I think because they are smaller that the "baked potato" size they ended up there, who cares? Have 2!

4. We had one near us but it closed.
I have to go a little further now but it still is a good deal on produce.

3. I love the dollar stores...
We have Dollar Tree - where everything is a dollar, and we have Family Dollar and Dollar General - these stores have loads for $l but have merchandise that goes for more - but still cheap compared to mainline..

The eye doctor who did my cataracts surgery told me to go to a dollar store and get glasses for close reading, and I have $1 glasses all over the house. Can't read any small print and couldn't last a day without them...can only see far.

They also have the best selection of cards, plastic containers and tons of other stuff. I love the dollar stores...

Am so glad for you that you found something affordable and good. Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours....
