Sorry, But Oklahoma State Was Robbed by the Idiotic BCS

...Simply by looking at the teams that Oklahoma State has defeated and Alabama have defeated shows the great robbery of a shot at the BCS championship by the writers. How many teams in the top 10 has Alabama defeated? The answer is a very underwhelming zero teams. Oklahoma State has defeated two teams ranked in the top 10. Just last night on December 3, 2011, Oklahoma State destroyed OU, the tenth best team in the country 44-10 and forcing OU to commit five turnovers. OSU dominated OU and what do they get in return for winning one of the toughest conferences in the country and beating the tenth best team in the country by thirty four points and causing five turnovers, nothing... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/967950-lsu-vs-alabama-rematch-oklahoma-state-has-been-robbed-of-bcs-appearance

1. Doesn't matter. They'd have lost to LSU anyway.
Just sayin'.

4. I wouldn't bet on it
The Sooners are still sitting in the hot tubs trying to get over that bloody ass beating we gave them Saturday . Hardest hitting game I've watched in years. And yeah, I know , the Sooners were the #10 team but you have to be from oklahoma to appreciate what a feat that was for OSU

10. That's right
After this year , the statement "the SEC is the toughest conference" is going to be a big joke since the BCS decided not to let anybody test that assumption

The coaches' poll nationwide has LSU #1 and 'Bama #2.

13. Are you kidding me?
I don't wholeheartedly support much of ANYTHING!!

Thing is, everybody's screaming about who's number TWO. There is NO DEBATE about who the number one team is. And it's neither Alabama nor Oklahoma State.

:hi:

By the way ... it's just a damn football game. Chill out a bit.

14. yes, it's just a game
to me and you. And yes, I'm an Oklahoma State alum so it does mean a lot, but the reason I'm mad doesn't have anything to do with me. It's got to do with those young men that worked their ass off to earn their spot in that game and a bunch of old men who arbitrarily took it away from them.

But... the more I think about it, maybe it doesn't matter that much. They beat the living shit out of the Sooners and that's what really matters here in Oklahoma. That may be even better than a national championship

6. Real Sports Are Decided on the Field of Play, Not Some Computer Modeling
Until DIV I college football gets a playoff system, it's not a real sport.

9. +1
As much as I love my Wildcats, when they don't come out for the second half, they lose and they don't get to play for the national championship. Alabama can be held without a touchdown and lose at home, and they're in the Big Game. #everygamecountsmysweetauntfanny.

16. Sports Are Supposed to Remove Ambiguity
That's why so many of us follow it passionately. We know what a TD is. We know what a win is. We know what a loss is.

So when some secret cabal using computer modeling tells me who will play for the title, then it's no longer a sport. It's just ambiguous bullshit which we all get in regular life.

20. #1 vs. #2 IS deciding it on the field of play.
It already is a playoff, and therefore, a real sport.

21. Except that "#2" is decided arbitrarily
the best suggestion I've heard so far is to clear out one of the early bowl games the weekend after next for 'Bama vs. OSU, the winner to play LSU in the title game.

22. Say Alabama wins by a point and Oklahoma State crushes their bowl opponent
Who is the National Champ then? One of those three... Or, maybe another 1 loss team??? Strong chance of a split National Champion this year...

BCS needs to correct that the two teams playing for the championship must have been their conference winners.

24. But this begs the queation.
What if the best 2 teams happen to be in the same conference?
That's arguably the question here.
Both don't go to the conference championship.
So one isn't in it, but it's still the best #2 team in the nation.
By 3 points in overtime.

27. If Alabama wins, are they AUTOMATICALLY the National Champion???
Really begs the question as there will be a number of teams with a bowl win and only 1 loss.

32. Yes. Here it is in plain language:
The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a selection system that creates five bowl match-ups involving ten of the top ranked teams in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), including an opportunity for the top two to compete in the BCS National Championship Game.

The BCS relies on a combination of polls and computer selection methods to determine relative team rankings, and to narrow the field to two teams to play in the BCS National Championship Game held after the other college bowl games. The American Football Coaches Association is contractually bound to vote the winner of this game as the BCS National Champion and the contract signed by each conference requires them to recognize the winner of the BCS National Championship game as the official and only Champion. The BCS was created to end split championships and for the Champion to win the title on the field between the two teams selected by the BCS.

Alabama lost to LSU by three points in a 9-6 game so they deserve a shot at the nat'l title because OK is an average team - if anyone was robbed it was Michigan State - so sayeth my coworker Leroy

28. I am a SEC fan with my two almae matres now, and I think the plane crash did it.

OSU took the field sad and brokenhearted after another airplane loss. They were just not ready to play and now they are punished for grieving.

It just isn't right.

29. So you've got a great team and your QB gets injured and you lose a game?
What happens then? Should your team be punished because the QB broke his pinky?

The plane crash was a tragedy, but the team still has to play.

Just askin'.
