ARE YOU FOR AL GORE IN '08- SHARE WHAT YOUR DOING ABOUT IT |
|
I'm trying to get an idea of who's doing what out there in the effort to convince Gore to run in '08.Are you just talking about it or have you made a move to get involved some how? If so how are you involved? What idea's do have that might help in the move to convince him to run. If he doesn't run then how do we stay connected as a grassroots movement to support the causes he champions out side of the political arena. I'm extremely interested in getting your input. Remember there is strength in numbers!!!!

2. I actually went to a meeting last night to organize a draft movement |
|
here in Michigan. They have already registered with the FEC as Volunteers to Draft Al Gore in 2008 or something like that.
We'll probably have three major groups in three parts of the state -- the Detroit metro area, Ann Arbor and Lansing. Once a month we'll be meeting statewide and then I guess we'll also have local meetings. The gentleman who ran the meeting is a retired professor who went through Al's 3-day training to be able to present "An Inconvenient Truth" content to groups. He has met with Al and Tipper and is convinced that he will run, but that it isn't time yet for him to announce.
We discussed various ways of getting the word out and getting people involved.
We're going to be taking paraphernalia to our state convention next month -- shirts, buttons, bumper stickers -- and pass out a printed piece.

Thanks for the positive input. I agree with the professor .I'm convinced he'll run and announce when he is ready. Your response was good news.I organized a meetup here in Baltimore and have tapped into the art community to get some ideas. We'll see how that turns out.

3. What I'm doing to get Gore to run in '08 |
|
Hey, Northquest--Good to see you here. I just thought I'd expand a little on what you said.
AlGore.org (AGO) has launched a major national campaign to get Gore to run in '08. AGO will pay the Meetup.com registration fee of any person who wants to organize a Gore meetup group in their area. In one short month, we've brought the number of Gore meetups on Meetup.com from only 8 to more than 60, with many more waiting to sign on. If you're interested in starting a Gore meetup group in your area, please contact me at krw@superlink.net. I'll give you a prepaid coupon code and instructions for registering. Once you've registered, AGO will support you with monthly agendas, ideas for activities and publicity, and a personal mentor to guide and assist you through your entire term as a meetup organizer.
So that's what I'm doing to get Gore in the White House. If anyone's interested in helping, please be sure to contact me.
Thanks!
Karen Wunderman Chief of Staff, Volunteer Division AlGore.org

5. We got that information at our meeting last night |
|
I think a decision will be made at the meeting in Ann Arbor on the 18th. We're aware of the fact that algore.org will pick up the meetup costs. You've probably had contact with Doug Kelley or Suzanne Smith.
