Has anyone here started or run a charitable organization? |
|
I have in my mind to start something to help children of war. If anyone has been involved in running a charity foundation of any sort -- what kind of advice can you offer? Any useful resources out there that I can read through? How does one go about getting the money or aid to the people who you want to help?
Thanks

1. I run an animal rescue. |

If you're going to try 501c3, tax exempt, get a lawyer. You can incorporate the charity yourself, most likely, without difficulty. The tax stuff, Board of Director requirements, etc, you really might want counsel for.
Good luck to you. Sounds like a great and deserving cause.

2. My wife has created several. She says you should first get the Federal regs |

& read them. Then check out the library for references on 501c3's. It'll cost $500 to file. She did them without a lawyer.
