Need help in expanding my musical protest songs....
For my next rally. So far, this is what I have:

Nothing from Nothing - Billy Preston (I'm a soldier on the war on Pov-er-ty!)

I'd Love To Change The World - Ten Years After

Everybody Lay Down - Pat Benatar

Fopp by Ohio Players....(just 'cause) ~

Any other suggestions?

2. A couple of things
One - you'd better take a close look at the lyrics to "I'd Love To Change The World" unless you're playing at Tea Party rallies.

As far as good protest songs, I always liked Suzanne Vega's "Rock In This Pocket"

I also like "Killing for Jesus" by The Circle Jerks. jmho

5. Any song by Phil Ochs
As any aging hippy can tell you - he was a master of protest ballads.

6. Try the IWW little red songbook
http://www.sacredchao.net/iww/

Lots of good stuff. like

Up From Your Knees
Up from your knees, ye cringing serfmen!
What have ye gained by whines and tears?
Rise! they can never break our spirits
Though they should try a thousand years.
Chorus
A thousand years, then speed the victory!
Nothing can stop us nor dismay.
After the winter comes the springtime;
After the darkness comes the day.

Break ye your chains; strike off your fetters;
Beat them to sword—the foe appears–
Slaves of the world, arise and crush him;
Crush him or serve a thousand years.

Join in the fight—the Final Battle.
Welcome the fray with ringing cheers.
These are the times all freemen dreamed of—
Fought to attain a thousand years.

Be ye prepared; be not unworthy,–
Greater the task when triumph nears.
Master the earth, 0 Men of Labor,–
Long have ye learned—a thousand years.

Over the hills the sun is rising.
Out of the gloom the light appears.
See! at your feet the world is waiting,–
Bought with your blood a thousand years.

11. Ordered 2 CDs today.............
First one: From the Bob Marley CD: Rebel Music: A LIVE version...6:34 of "Get Up, Stand Up."

Second: From 1977 Rocky movie ORIGINAL recording from Bill Conti: "Gonna Fly Now"

Not sure...(just yet)..how I will incorporate it all....but my guess is to build it up with music.

Establish a momentum.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
