Reid Jokes About Obama-Clinton Rift

By Carl Hulse

Much has been made of the recent psychoanalysis by Senator Barack Obama of economically besieged small-town Americans as well as the prospect of the Democratic primary harming the eventual nominee.

Senator Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada and the majority leader, offered his reaction to the intramural tension this afternoon:

“It makes me bitter,” he told reporters.

The sometimes droll Mr. Reid got a laugh from reporters with his reference to Mr. Obama’s now famous remark. But he no doubt alarmed staff members worried not everyone would get the joke or that he would be seen as making light of a serious point of contention.

Mr. Reid downplayed the possible party fallout and pointed out how interest in the Democratic primary is driving up Democratic registration in his own state. And maybe he knows something others don’t because he forecast a speedy conclusion to the nomination situation.

“This is all going to be over very soon,” he said. “I think it’s been healthy for our country, healthy for our party.”

2. Good for him.
"worried not everyone would get the joke or that he would be seen as making light of a serious point of contention."

Its NOT a serious point of contention. Its words. We'll all be better off when we judge Obama by his policy proposals, and the same for Hillary.
