Clinton Keeps Up Fight As Staff Tensions Rise
Clinton Keeps Up Fight As Staff Tensions Rise

Heading into twin Democratic primaries Tuesday in Kentucky and Oregon -- which the two candidates are expected to split -- Sen. Hillary Clinton is vowing to stay in the race to the end, even as her staff and supporters show further signs of fraying.

In an interview in Bowling Green, Ky., on Sunday where she was campaigning ahead of Tuesday's vote, Sen. Clinton said, "I'm still here because I think I would be the best president."

However, faced with growing pressure to drop out of the race, Sen. Clinton is getting hit with conflicting advice from within her own camp. Some of her top strategists are warning that she is injuring her political future by staying in. Others -- notably her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and strategist Mark Penn -- are urging her to remain in the race. She has beaten Sen. Barack Obama in key swing states, they argue.

In a fresh setback Monday, Sen. Robert Byrd, a Democratic elder statesman, endorsed Sen. Obama, despite Sen. Clinton's overwhelming victory last week in his home state of West Virginia.

1. Again she shows her lack of judgement by listening to the wrong people
She is being given good advice, but she takes the wrong advice instead.

4. She is not exhibiting independent judgment ...
She's continuing to go along with whatever Bill recommends, which
includes selecting Penn as the WORST CAMPAIGN STRATEGIST EVER! I
can foresee a Cabinet filled with Bill's old hands if she were to win
the election ... just like what happened with RatBastard and Poppy's
crew. Her kind of "experience" the country can do without.

10. Good judgment is perhaps the important trait a President could have

2. It must be so hard on her and her staff --
I can't imagine the pressure. It would be stressful under the best of circumstances, but with so many SD's endorsing Obama, the MSM essentially giving him the nod, and the very real money issues, it's gotta be brutal.

Very interesting article, babylonsister -- thanks AGAIN!! :hi:

3. There's one fairly simple way to end the pressure...
I wish they'd do it! And you're welcome, gateley! :hi:

5. Yeah, you're right --
but at this point I say stay in until the Primaries end. It's been so exciting for so many of us to participate in a primary where our vote actually MEANS something, and I'd like to see everybody get that chance. After the primaries, though...

7. I just think it's not improving her image at all; wish I knew what the
point was, unless people are indeed still contributing money.

9. I think the point is,
she has honestly convinced herself (with the encouragement of Bill and Penn) that there is still a chance she could become the nom. When you only focus on the potential positives and discount other factors, it's easy to fool yourself. That's kind of what I did when Biden was running -- just looking at -- and getting encouragement from -- the positives.

8. Unless Hillary wins both contests with 86% of the vote, it WILL end tonight
because Obama will have clinched the delegate lead. Should Obama then pretend that Hillary still has a chance to win the majority of the delegates just to spare her feelings?
