CNN: Clinton message: She'll do what it takes in November
From Suzanne Malveaux

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton is poised to deliver a message Tuesday "that she will do whatever it takes" to put a Democrat in the White House -- a message that Sen. Barack Obama insiders say indicates she would accept an offer to be Obama's running mate if asked.

"In her speech tomorrow night, she will convey the message that first and foremost she is committed to Democrats winning in November and will do whatever she's asked to do," said a close friend and adviser of the New York senator and former first lady, who speaks with her regularly and is privy to her deliberations. "She will do whatever it takes to bring the party together to win and whatever is asked of her to make sure the Republicans are defeated."

That message has been conveyed to the Obama campaign via informal channels, according to Obama insiders who said the message is a signal that she would be willing to serve as Obama's vice president. The Clinton and Obama campaigns told CNN there have been no formal discussions between the campaigns.

Obama insiders are split over whether considering Clinton for the ticket is a good idea.

"Obama has a philosophical aversion to making promises and pre-empting the process that is in place so Clinton can accommodate her interests," one Obama insider said. "Sure, she's on the short list, but there's a whole process in place."

One Obama insider believes putting Clinton on the ticket would "ramp down the animosity" that exists between the supporters of the two candidates. But another insider said that "while there is mistrust between the two, it's less about trusting her, and more about whether she can deliver."...

1. I really believe the Dem ticket will be Obama/Clinton.
I don't see any other way to unite the party.

As well as Barack has done, there are a LOT of people who DID NOT vote for him. It's been far from a clean sweep for Barack. He'll need the support of Hillary's supporters to unite the party.

Anything else will allow the divide to continue.

Everyone wanted to make history. Looks like it will happen with the first black President and the first female Vice President.

2. I hope she does help Obama win
But "NOT" as the VP! I have said it a million times, as have others, she will bring out the republican base like no other, and she is what Obama wants to change in D.C. Having her on the ticket would not help his claims to want real change. She is the corporate candidate, it just would not work with Obama message of hope!

3. She needs to NOT be on this ticket.
She worked so hard to destroy Obama and the party. Why would anyone think that she would be an asset. Every June she could wait for something to happen? Remember Bosnia and her total lack of respect for the troops who guarded her.... never forget!

5. A cabinet post, but not VP
Obama needs somebody with diplomatic/military experience as VP to counter McCain.

7. I agree.
She does not help when it comes to experience. Find a cabinet position, but not the VP slot!

6. Oh I truly hope not..
It would be what happened to Geraldine Ferraro on steroids.. and take the campaign right into a tail spin.. What happened yesterday with President Clinton is the tip of the iceberg I am afraid... We have really dodged a bullet in a sense that yep.. Senator Obama is going to have to fight off some headaches.. but what they had prepped for Senator Clinton and are smacking their lips for on the ultra right is to unload that on her is huge, they even have an hour long dvd.. fair or unfair, it is what it is...

9. I do not think that Hillary Clinton would be happy on the Supreme Court.
She is a politician, not a scholar.

She is happy in the Senate. That is where she belongs.

She would not make a good vice president. She is too ambitious. She thinks she knows best -- better than anyone else. Obama/Clinton reminds me too much of Kennedy/Johnson.

Also, Clinton has accepted too much corporate money. Obama has not accepted the lobbyists' money. I don't think he could deal with Clinton's debts to the corporate masters of the universe.

10. I had not looked at it that way
Maybe the "lioness" of the senate?? but, and I may be wrong about this, its not only in the election that she has burned bridges, but in the senate also..but she did seem happy in the senate
