Dobbs repeatedly makes Obama birth certificate claims (MediaMatters)
Dobbs repeatedly makes Obama birth certificate claims his CNN colleagues call "total bull"
July 17, 2009 7:26 pm ET

SUMMARY: Addressing an issue promoted by the far-right "birther" movement, Lou Dobbs repeatedly said on his radio show that President Obama needs to "produce a birth certificate" and that Obama's birth certificate posted online has "some issues" -- claims that have been dismissed and even ridiculed by his CNN colleagues ... http://mediamatters.org/research/200907170039

1. Whew. For a minute I though you meant Bob Dobbs and then I was going to worry.
He could revoke Obama's slack after all.

3. Lou Dobbs gets worse by the day.
For the last few years he's become more and more virulently anti-immigrant. And now it appears he's a birfer. Figures, though; if your personal bete noir is (non-white) foreigners, I suppose the idea that your (non-white) president might actually be one is enough to get your panties in a twist.

What I don't understand is why major news media outlets like CNN and MSNBC give fringe characters like Dobbs and Pat Buchanan air time (Fox News is ALL fringe; they don't count). These guys do nothing but validate the haters and give them permission to be louder and more hateful. I'm all for free speech, but why should the networks *pay* these guys to get spittle on their ties raving about the furriners ruining America for white guys?

4. Interesting

I happened to catch the Lou Dobbs show last night and Kitty Pilgrim was filling in. They had a short segment about the birthers with Orly Taitz and Alan Keyes on one side and a couple of pundits I don't know (one was from the Daily Beast) on the other.

The segment started with Pilgrim spending several minutes laying out all the evidence that proved Obama was born in Hawaii, including birth announcements from two separate Hawaii newspapers from August 1961, quotes from independent organizations who have looked into the matter, and a whole bunch of other stuff. She started off with Alan Keyes asking, "What more do you want?" Keyes replied, "Evidence."

After Keyes rambled for a minute, Pilgrim moved onto Orly Taitz, who literally just blathered about nothing. Did you know that children who are not born in Hawaii are eligible to get Hawaii birth certificates? (Presumably the newspaper birth announcements were planted after Rahm Emmanuel took a quick trip in Obama's time machine.)

Then Pilgrim turned to the other guys. The first one said that there was a handy profit to be made by egging on the birthers. The second called the birthers "nuts." The whole time this was going on, Taitz was trying to talk over them but nobody could understand what she was saying.

Taitz and Keyes ended up looking like absolute cretins.

6. Anything that Alan Keyes touches turns to farce.
Considering that he ran against Obama wouldn't you expect that he would have an axe to grind?

5. This is like Irving Kristol's 'noble lie' about religion
Neocons pretended to believe creationism/intelligent design in order to manipulate the fundies.

"There are different kinds of truths for different kinds of people. There are truths appropriate for children; truths that are appropriate for students; truths that are appropriate for educated adults; and truths that are appropriate for highly educated adults, and the notion that there should be one set of truths available to everyone is a modern democratic fallacy. It doesn't work." - Irving Kristol

7. Lou Dobbs has lost his mind
I'm convinced these people who won't give up the "Obama" isn't American deal are just angry racists. Factcheck.org did a comprehensive analysis and concluded there is no doubt Obama was born in the US. Reports that the birth certificate had no signature or raised seal are false. It is conclusively original and legitimate. But the most conclusive evidence, and you can check this for yourself, is that TWO NEWSPAPERS IN HAWAII REPORTED OBAMA'S BIRTH the day after he was born in 1961. This whole issue just reveals that deep-rooted Republican value of truthiness - if you want something to be true, it is, even if 100% of the evidence says it's not.

8. Those right-wing tards are still on about this?
Honestly, they are really running out of material to attack Obama with.
