Where's Rummy?
Am I the only person who has noticed that Donald Rumsfeld has virtually disappeared? Where is the old boy? Is he hiding in a bunker?

When was the last time you saw him? Just a short while ago you could not turn on the cable news without seeing that horrendous set of false teeth flapping but for about 4 weeks now, he is not to be seen and I have not heard his name mentioned in ages. It's almost like he doesn't exist.

1. Karl Rove
has him in a trunk with Rice somewhere. Politically mothballed until after the 9/11 report flap dies down.

2. The Administration finally decided
that it was a liability to have him all over the airwaves unapologetically claiming not to have any answers.

4. Re: Replaced Cheney in................

Come to think of it, he did disappear just as Cheney emerged from the bowels of the earth...... assuming that one can believe that's where Cheney was to begin with.

7. I have a theory..
Maybe Cheney and Rummy are actually the same person and they just morph into the other when needed. In fact, I think the whole government may have been taken over by aliens from another world. It really is the only explanation that makes any sense. Did you ever see that movie with Rowdy Roddy Piper called "They Live"? The scene where he discovers the secret conspiracy of the aliens by putting on those magic sunglasses that allow him to tell the difference between humans and aliens is a classic. All the advertisements and signs are laced with subliminal messages "Don't question authority" "Obey" etc. Roddy has elucidating moment and says, "Damn! I knew it had to be something like this!"

9. RE: "I have a theory.."
I've never heard of that movie but I sure wish I had a pair of those magic sunglasses.

Om second thought most of the stuff has been shoved down our throats without the magic sunglasses and still most of the country is mute.

5. Hiring Replacement Mercenaries
I don't read or hear much in the US, but the three Americans arrested in Afghanistan claim to have been working for the Pentagon and have proof. He claims emails and faxes directly from Rumsfeld's office. Where's our freepress on this issue?

8. RE: "Hiring Replacement Mercenaries"
I have heard about mercenaries but this is a first on your article.

Surely these guys did not expect king george or Rummy to admit they knew him? Remember "Kenny Boy" Lay??

Our "free press" is AWOL as usual.

6. Certain embarrassing figures are not allowed out during election season...
this to include Rummy and Cheney. Other more respectable figures, such as Powell, simply have disassociated themselves.

11. Finally.................. Yahoo notices
Rumsfeld Relegated to Less Visible Role :

Burdened by the Iraq prisoner abuse scandal and constrained by the presidential election campaign, the Pentagon chief who spearheaded the Afghanistan and Iraq wars has been relegated to a less visible role.

Since an April 27 news conference — one day before CBS News broadcast photographs of U.S. soldiers abusing Iraqis at the Abu Ghraib prison — Rumsfeld has appeared in the Pentagon briefing room just twice, on May 4 and June 17

Rumsfeld, who turned 72 this month, said he would not quit just to satisfy his political enemies but added that if he felt he could no longer be effective as defense secretary, "I'd resign in a minute."

Sheeze, who told that goofy old geezer that he was effective? We have 900 soldiers dead and over 20,000 maimed, wounded or sick. We have a shortage of soldiers and supplies for them and he thinks he is effective!

13. RE; "I Know Where!!"
Most reptiles do slither under rocks and other dark spots during the hot dog days of summer but this gang of reptiles are a whole new breed. They slither in and out all year round dragging their slime along behind themselves.

Saw Condi Rice today for the first time in quite a while. Notice who else is invisible these days? Colin Powell!

This weekend should be interesting......... wonder which of the elite ones will be selected to criticize the 9-11 report and to blame Clinton of course?

14. Juan Williams interviewed him
on Morning Edition July 19. Favorite line: He "can't imagine" a draft being reinstated by bushco*". If I had a nickel for everything Rumsfeld "can't imagine" I'd be a rich Republican.

15. Rummy is a liabilty
I think the Bush people see Rumsfeld as a liability for the campaign. It maybe because of the toruture thing, but it may be because he apologized for the torture and may seem to "sensitive."
