Fundy alert! I came home to find this in my inbox ...
This is eerie...and something to think about since America is typically represented by an "Eagle" . Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages. The following verse is from the Quran, (the Islamic Bible)...

Quran (9:11) -- For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.
(Note the verse number!!!!!)

I find it eerie ... but not for the same reasons! :wtf:

Claim: Quranic verse speaks of the "wrath of the Eagle cleansing the lands of Allah."

Status: False.

29. Here's Koran 9:11
<9.11> But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

Any idiot can look it up for themselves, yet most would rather accept the Eagle bullshit without questioning.

4. It's bogus.
This "verse" does not appear anywhere in the Q'uran. It's some sort of freeper phony-Islam urban legend thing that's been circulated to "prove" that American is gonna whup their butts. But it's phony:

That is not a quote from the Qur'an. This is what Chapter 9, Verse 11 actually says (multiple translations)...
009.011
YUSUFALI: But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand.
PICKTHAL: But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge.
SHAKIR: But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

Do these people not even think to check Snopes before passing on this kind of crap?

10. Do you really have to ask?
The people who pass this stuff are not exactly critical thinkers. They'll take anything vaguely resembling justification for their asinine ideals. This is why people continue to call Kerry a "flip-flopper" ... even though it has been proven false.

I get the same thing all the time from clients who forward me virus hoaxes from like 1995 thinking their computer is going to explode ...or the people who're convinced Bill Gates is going to give them money for beta-testing his new e-mail tracking system ...or some nice Nigerian person is going to cut them in on $10 million.

Koran - Eagle 9:11 is an Onion that was circulating on FR about two months ago. Brought out a ton of Rapture Fetishists. Must have attracted 100+ posts before they found out they were had.

I guess actually reading the Koran didn't occur to them.

13. Bogus verse
The real verse 9:11 in the koran is
9: 11. But if they repent and observe Prayer and pay the Zakát, then they are your brethren in Faith. And WE explain the Signs for a people who have knowledge.

Slight difference, but the thumpers have to make up phony scripture to justify themselves.

14. OLD fake verse, apparently making the rounds again...
This was even sent in to my local newspaper just a week ago, the whole stupid e-mail; and I wrote to the paper (my very first time) and showed how it was fake, and thankfully so did another writer.

It can drive you crazy how people send and re-send these idiotic things through email. But I'm glad I wasn't the only one to write to the paper and show it was a fake.

I just wish these people would take a minute or two and use google to try and see if these preposterous things are factual.

15. Lies, demonizing a religion is not the answer.
This reminds me of that false claim that the Koran promises 72 virgins to suicide bombers. This is also not there.

Come on people there are too many references to fall for this kind of anti Islamic tripe.

I hope you email back with an admonishment.

18. Still, it makes me wonder...
why terrorists almost always turn out to be Islamic. I know they aren't all like that, but why is theirs the only religion that seems to foster the kind of inhuman behavior some of them exhibit? The Christians had their 'crusades', but that was a LONG time ago and times have changed and people are more civil. Not so with these muslum terrorists. I've never read the Qoran, but I thought Islam was supposed to be the religion of peace?

20. I would argue that WE, i.e. the united states
are the real terrorists. When innocent civilians are indescriminatley killed by careless gunplay, bombing and artillery - in an unnecessary war, this is no different.

US policies, dependancy on foreign oil, and the support of dictatorships are partly to blame.

We do not respect the rights of others that we claim for ourselves.

This is why we lost the war in Vietnam - backing a failed colonial govt imposed by deciet and force upon an unwilling nation. This is why we WILL lose this war in Iraq.

The Iraqis are not terrorists, they are fighting a foreign invader. Us. And since when are Christians any more civil?

So it was muslim terrorists that carried out the IRA bombing campaign? Bader-Meinhof Gang was Muslim? The Red Brigades? Lets not forget the Muslim terrorists of the Symbionese Liberation Army! And of course, Tim McVeigh was personally trained by Bin Ladin.

This is about as valid as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/WolfFiles/wolffiles75.html

Writer Rich Abanes says that Hitler and his minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, were thrilled in the 1930s when believers started applying Nostradamus to Nazism.

“Hitler actually started working Nostradamus into his propaganda,” Abanes says. “He must have thought it would be good for his image to be tied to destiny.”

Thank you very much, Mr. Godwin, wherever you are.

33. HA HA HA...I just got this last week
from my Kerry-voting-but-still-slightly-fundy mother. It was prefaced with a bunch of geographical info about how a lot of the locations referred to in the Torah/Christian Old Testament are in Iraq (Tigris/Euphrates rivers, etc). The fake Koran verse came at the end.

I didn't even bother to check Snopes. I just sent it back asking why she, as a devout Christian, would want to circulate an e-mail that would seem to prove the Koran right? After all, to Christians the Koran isn't the word of God... :)
