Conservative Values and Conservative Ignorance |
|
Christian Conservatives voted for bush who:
was arrested for drunk driving deserted his military unit to avoid a drug test profited from insider trading at Harken Enterprises Intentionally Lied to the American People which led to thousands of deaths Placed a veil of secrecy around his administration to keep out the truth Is complicit in the exposure of an undercover CIA operative Wants to use the Constitution as a weapon against a segment of society and thats just some of what we know he has done
And they voted for him on the basis of Moral Values?
I'm either really confused or they are really ignorant American hating morons. Any conservative share to enlighten me on why your vote was driven by MORALITY and you voted for bush anyway?

Carter was and is still a man of God. bush is a substance abuser who dupes the lemmings into believing he is a "christian." He's no more a christian than adolph hitler was.

them bring about the end times. This is why born again christian right nut jobs are dead set against environmental laws. They believe those laws are slowing down the second coming of Christ, and that we are all living in the end times. Read the following article, you wanna have the shit scared out of you, read it. http://www.grist.org/news/maindish/2004/10/27/scherer-christian/

6. Southerners have a different definition of morals than others. |
|
They see Bush as one of them. They saw Kerry as someone else. "Moral values" is just a catch phrase some campaign person dreamed up and the conservative media implanted it in the faithfuls heads through repetition.
The deep red states don't vote issues like you and I vote issues. They vote for whomever they perceive as being like them. Democrats may indeed be much more inline with the issues which have a real effect on this country, but again red state voters do not care about that.
The idea of "moral values" also comes into play in the fundemental way in which red state voters perceive politicians. Blue state people want someone who has the best job performance and ends up getting the best results by the numbers. Better employment numbers. Lower inflation. Higher wages. More respect abroad. We are after scholastic results. We put the guy with the best numbers in high esteem, such as Bill Clinton. Blue state people see Bill Clinton as a resounding success based on our "values" in a President. We attack those who have weak job performance. An example would be GWB. His numbers as a leader are abysml. He is our villian.
Red state people are after someone who they think best conveys themselves as a person. They are interested in the numbers, but those are side acts next to whether or not a President makes them feel good. They want a sense of empowerment from a President. This is why they love the ideas of "my money" "my country" "my guns" etc. They also get a strong sense of self worth and power from "putting someone in their place". To them it is about who is strongest and who is a better person. They don't attack the numbers someone else might produce. They prefer to attack the individual. From this come terms like "looks French" "liberal" "elitest" etc. Politics to them is about picking the guy who comes out strongest in the personality contest. They want a tough guy. These better man personal attacks are why Bill Clinton is their villian. They dumpster dove into Clinton's personal life long enough to uncover a personal failing and they used that as a way for them to define him. The Republicans love GWB because he spends every single speech portraying himself as a likable guy. The media has taken this talking point an run with it by constantly echoing how GWB is such a "likeable guy." Of course America doesn't know that from actually hearing our President speak because he rarely is seen taking questions in public or even seen speaking in public. GWB uses his seragates to continue to echo the "likeable guy" label. Democrats refuse to counter this term because they find going after someone's fundemental personality as unproductive to politics and off bounds. Republicans, like Cheney and Zell Miller and Guiliani, find no problem with going after their opponents on their fundemental character as a person. Again, none of us in the voting public can truly understand a candidates character. We rely on the media and the talking heads to tell us their character.
Democrats are not like Republicans. We don't all enjoy vicious talk radio. We would rather debate issues than attack the individuals character. We denounced the National Guard attacks on Bush. But Bush would not denounce the Swiftee attacks on Kerry. This pretty much defines the difference. We are argueing our point based in a totally different reality than what the Republicans have. While we explain all the various ways Bush has failed as a leader of the USA, the Republicans are answering with saying that Kerry looks French and he windboards. We see their argument and blow it off as them being petty. We assume that our convincing arguments about healthcare loss numbers and rising deficit ceilings will show our understanding of the needs of our country.
The dilemma is that their arguments work with all the people who are not politics junkies and lack a strong grasp of the real numbers. This amounts to the vast majority of this country, unfortunatelly. Most people don't know the truth about things like habeus corpus suspention and deficit spending. These people do understand if they see one guy clearing brush and another guy snowboarding. One they can relate to, the other looks foreign.
This is not to say that all Republicans are idiots. They are not at all. They have very real agendas that they play once in office. Many of their agendas are simply inplemented to fuel their continuing power, such as the high tax cuts we see now which are causing crushing debt to be amounted. The Republicans understand fully what they are doing to our long term future.
The Democrats also have agendas, but many times refuse to allow themselves to play the guerilla politics required to get past the campaign. Democrats have a fundemental misunderstanding as to how to talk to Republican voters. As long as they see you as wimp or not part of their team, then you get rejected regardless of you abilities. They like waving flags and all wearing W stickers because it gives them a sense of self pride. They are part of a team. We call them sheep. They call themselves Patriots. They call us traitors. We call ourselves lovers of Freedom.
