How many of you voted against Bush because of your Christian values.
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 03:04 PM by lfairban
I grew up in the Church of the Brethren, where I learned pacifist values in my teenaged years during the Vietnam war. How it is that Christians can justify supporting Bush and his pre-emptive war into another sovereign nation and toppling the government of another country just so we can get their oil is beyond my comprehension.

I voted against Bush because of my Christian values!

1. Bush's War is Damned!
It is hurting millions of people who might have lived very different kinds of lives otherwise.

I liked Kerry and all. I thought he was talking some smart economic stuff, getting alternative technologies rooted in our economy, and reducing our dependence on oil.

But first, last, and foremost in my decision is Bush's War. I knew before it became fashionable, that my vote is based on my morality.

5. Yes..they have corrupted Jesus's teaching....
This forcing our children to be little robots and blindly obey is ruining them. It is criminal to choke them with their bigotry and fill their minds with so much propaganda that they no longer can feel with their hearts and soul, which in my thinking, is Jesus. Our inner spirit is where Jesus is. Jesus is there as well as are many people that are giving love and understanding to those people that we come in contact with. I just need to write this to comfort myself, so if it sounds goofy, please just go easy on me. Mrs Moose

4. The Giggling Murderer
I voted against the Giggling Murderer because as a vet I balked at voting for such an arrogant deserter, as a spiritually-inclined person I couldn't vote for his psychopathic cruelty, as an American citizen, I couldn't vote for his high crimes against the nation.

6. Me.
Of all the things that bother me about the Bush administration, the thing that angers me the most is how all these calculating opportunists and modern day Pharisees are manipulating Christianity for their own gain.

7. Bush is the Anti-Christ
Well maybe not. But he is certainly a wolf in sheep's clothing. And he does not demonstrate the qualities that Scripture ascribes to good national leaders.

9. Same here
I'm surrounded by well-meaning people who voted for Bush and who vote Republican because of their "Christian" values, and can't understand how I can take an to absolutely opposite position because of my values. But they tend to be single-issue voters: anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, pro-school prayer, pro-voucher, pro-family (whatever the heck that means!). They don't understand how anyone could disagree with them; everything is black or white, up or down, for it or against it. They don't want to be bothered by subtle nuances or multiple viewpoints, let alone all the other issues important this year.

My theology, and my politics, are summed up by Micah 6:8. "What does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, love kinkness, and to walk humbly with your God."

10. Me
I vote Democratic because of my faith. I believe as a christian we take care of those who can't take care of themselves. The Democrats seem to care about others. The Republican only care about themselves.

11. I never put it into those terms
but I could not vote for some one how could so easily lie, even when the truth would work. I have ask several people and to give me an example of chimp actually "doing" something to show his Christian beliefs instead of just talking about it and no one can tell me of one thing he has done to justify his "moral" high ground.
