1. That's not the price they are charging
That's the price they are buying coins for, not selling them.

3. Yeah, and if you'd bought gold six months ago, like Glenn Beck told you too....
you'd be a hell of a lot better off. For now. Sell it now.

4. Your Goldline link is for "slabbed" coins
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 03:31 AM by Art_from_Ark
A "slabbed" coin is a coin that has been graded by a TPG, or "third-party grader" (preferably either PCGS, NGC, or ANACS) to show its condition. The grade there is MS-69, which is a tiny notch below perfect. For regular coins that were made to be used as daily money, an MS-69 designation can significantly increase the value of the coins. However, these are bullion coins that were never meant to be circulated, so they should be in near-top condition anyway. So most dealers don't give a crap about whether they are MS-69.

Here's a link to the "unslabbed" (or "raw") coins. They are several hundred dollars cheaper, although still more expensive than the Apmex coins:

5. These are new issues
The slabbing and MS-69/70 & PR-69/70 grades on bullion coins is a rip-off. They ain't supposed to leave the mint in less than perfect condition. On the secondary market they'll go for the same as the mint issued 'encapsulated' coins that are boxed with a COA.

The likelyhood of these ever getting premium value above melt is about zilch. Too many are issued.

The TPG's have really whored themselves with this shit.

9. If you think slabbing bullion coins is chintzy,
just add a "First Strike" designation to the grade, and then they will REALLY be worth something!

10. Bingo!
On the secondary market, the added value is less than the cost of the halogram on the slab.
