Cash in on the bubble before it pops
Time is running out

The bubble? (This is not BS...Really, this is not BS!)

FEATHERS! To be exact, long slim rooster saddle hackles. If you got em you understand what I'm describing. Whiting Farms and Metz micro barbs specifically, although Keogh and others will sell at multiples of their original price.

The new fashion fad 'Feather Hair Extensions' has pretty much wiped out the inventory at craft stores, fly fishing shops, and individual fly tyers (like self) The prices being paid is beyond nuts.

A couple examples:
a $35 Whiting Farms silver grade grizzly saddle (purchased a couple years ago) sold on eBay with a 'Buy it Now' price of $900 in 2.5 hours!
a $8.95 (still had the tag on the package) Metz #2 grizzly rooster saddle went for $177.50

Why do I say the bubble will burst? There are a shitload of birds almost ready for the butcher shop. By mid fall there will be an abundance of saddle hackles available.

So if you are a fly tyer, or know of one, here's a chance at some easy cash

2. That stretch is referred to as 'The Mutt'
Was it tan, black or olive. Which tree should I be looking in?....Above or below 'White Rock'?

Next time you're gonna be in me back yard, let me know. :hi:

6. That would be the white rock that one can use to judge the river's depth?...
...at least that's what the guy in the Fairfield flyfishing ship told me. I recall being near a couple of old mill wheels in the water.

I wish I was going to be back there - best fly fishing in my life. As a novice, I caught a couple nice trout (Browns?) while learning to cast. Very nice.

I also fished on the Sandy river some, near Madison, Me by the old power plant. If you're the one who lost the "camp shower" in the river (canoe overturned?) I have it for you.

I worked in Maine for several years, and fell in love with the geography. Maybe some day I can get back.

Thanks for the reply.

8. Fairfield fly shop was FFO
aka 'Fly Fishing Only'

Yep that be the 'White Rock'

FWIW The shop was for sale for about a year..no takers... so he liquidated invetory a couple months ago... The owner did business with me all the way back to when he was a PA for SD Warren 'Woodlands Division' and I sold Loggin equipment.... M & L were doin the 'fly' thing outa their livingroom.

Hate to do this to u but,

I only hit the Mutt for just a couple days in very early spring (compared to the rest of the river, the Mutt sucks) when the Hendies start to pop...3 days later they/and self hit Skowhegan eddy.. 4days later they start taking wing in Madison..(favorite spot is where the Sandy hits the K'bec just below the rips! (Hilton Farm)

The old Madison Electric Works Dam on the Sandy is gone...Self was on the crew moving clams when the dam was blown

If you get back heyuh, I'll show you where the real pigs live

Tight Lines!

ps... never lost a camp shower, but did have a bag with a few thousand flies, several full spools, and a couple pair of sun glasses bounce outa the boat (while being trailored) between Solon and Madison on 201A

pps sow wheyuh did u whook ovah heyuh?

4. Hi DG! :hi:
hit the links in the original post

The big bucks are in grizzly (aka plymouth rock) feathers. But long rooster saddle feather (esp patches) or (the feathers between the head and ass but between the wings) of other varieties will get high returns.

IT AIN'T ABOUT FISHING...It's about hair styles!

3 weeks ago my hobby (fly tyin) was a drain on the checkbook. To make matters worse, I liked to share my passion in schools, prisons, and other non paying venues. After selling enough feathers to maybe fill a single shoe at the end of me leg (sz 11.5) I am now ahead of the game after 20+ years.....And I still have enough feathers to fill a couple steamer trunks No Shit!
